March – Fishing Port Douglas | Successful bottom fishing day trips and live-aboard charters on board Zulu out of The Reef Marina, Port Douglas. The water temperatures have improved slightly but we’re still finding ourselves travelling north to find the fish of late. Both Zulu and Levante have been undergoing annual maintenance and our crew have been busy prepping both vessels for the upcoming tourist season in Port Douglas.

Zulu’s last live-aboard trip resulted in some fantastic bottom fishing, with large (and hungry!) schools of large mouth Nannygai as well as the odd Red Emperor and coral trout in the mix. The spanish mackerel fishing is a little quiet on late but should start to pick up as the water temperatures cool. Travelling as far north as Ribbons number 2 has proven successful in finding the ‘honey holes’. Zulu is equipped with the latest Furuno omni-directional sonar as well as Furuno chirp sounder system and Furuno 1150 sounder with a widebeam transducer which could be considered as cheating! Having the technology to find these schools of fish really give Zulu the advantage over the standard setup and the results speak for themselves. If the fish are there… we’ll find them!

Levante Fishing Charters (Zulu’s sistership) is currently undergoing a cosmetic refit on her interior. We’re updating the colour scheme to lighter and cooler tones which will give her a luxurious and modern facelift for our guests to enjoy. Levante is such a versatile vessel, being the perfect size for small groups to chase marlin, both light and heavy tackle, bottom fish and leisurely explore the Great Barrier Reef.

Levante will resume both shared and private reef fishing charters in the coming weeks, so if you’re interested in Fishing Port Douglas – stay tuned!

Our new 40ft Assegai Express is in the midst of it’s build at Assegai Marine in the Gold Coast. We hope to launch her in late 2016 and possibily have her alongside our mother-ship Beluga by the end of 2016. The Australian Assegai built boat is unprecedented in it’s strength, style and longevity which is why we couldn’t resist building a fleet of them!

The crew on Beluga Xpeditions have been busy on the dry dock in Cairns for the past 6 weeks with Beluga undergoing general maintenance, as well as technology updates and gearing up for the demands of her upcoming travels within Australia. Beluga X has a range of unique and exciting charter options and we can’t wait to share them with you via our new website – coming soon!
