Whilst most of the charter fleet are slowly heading back to their home port’s currently, we’re still seeing the giant black marlin bite holding strong! With water temperatures being warmer in November than October, we’ve seen the favourable results of generous numbers of giant black marlin over 800lb’s (And several over the magic 1000lb) being caught amongst the fleet. Predictions are the marlin bite may continue right into December this year, meaning you still have time to get out there and score your dream fish!
Zulu finished up it’s charters out of Cooktown roughly a week ago and headed back down to our home port – Port Douglas to continue our end of season charters. Fishing reports from our last few charters have resulted in 10 black marlin in 5 days on the north end of the Ribbons Reef, between number 5 and 10 ranging between approximately 150lb to 900llb. Casey was marking significant numbers of marlin on the sounder during this trip, as well as bait balls which we haven’t seen previously this season. (see sounder grabs in gallery above). Our last trip was out of Cairns for 2 1/2 days fishing around Linden Bank resulting in 3 black marlin up to approximately 250lb. We’re currently north of Cooktown on a 5 day charter that’s non-fishing related (Yes we don’t always fish!), However have some availability next week if anyone wants to get out there and give it a crack before the season comes to an end.

Levante, our 44ft Assegai Sportsfisher will rejoin us in December after being on lease to Chris at ‘Marlin 4 Miles’ for the 2015 marlin season and will again be available for charter, both sports fishing and bottom fishing from December 2015. Check out Levante’s website here for more information.
