We have just returned from an action packed week of bottom fishing on board both of our fishing charter vessels, Levante Fishing Charters + Zulu Gamefishing Charters out of Port Douglas.
We fished on Levante for 2 x day trips, followed by a 3 day live aboard charter on Zulu for the remainder of last week. Lets just say the weather wasn’t on our side, blowing 25-30knots most of the week and even getting up to gusts of 38.9knots one evening! Fortunetly Zulu has a Seakeeper Gyro installed which makes a HUGE difference in keeping us stable and comfortable for the entire trip. The gyro has allowed us to take on any weather conditions with confidence as well as numb any significant rocking from side to side which can be the culprit of sea sickness.
Fortunately for us, the wind and rain only made the fish hungry so the bottom fishing was fantastic (see sounder view below). Large schools of Nannygai were on the hunt, and our guests had bent rods and sore arms for the majority of the trip. One day resulted in 11 Nannygai, 3 coral trout and 2 red emperor between 3 anglers. Head to our Facebook Page to see the video.
