Fishing Report 4/8/15 – Just back in after a 3 day live aboard charter over the weekend.
Charter consisted of bottom fishing, trolling and swimming on the Great Barrier Reef with some lovely guests whom have never picked up a fishing rod, let alone visited the wonders of the amazing reef system available at Port Douglas’s back door.
Lines in and within minuets we landed a solid Spanish mackerel (approx. 20kgs) which revealed dropped jaws and amazed faces from our unsuspecting guests. The bottom fishing was hit and miss with the current full moon, however small mouth nannygai and red emperor were on the menu on our last day when Captain Casey discovered a ‘wonky hole’ which proved to be a winner!
Snorkelling and swims in crystal clear water were ideal after a busy day’s fishing, anchoring up close to the reef with spectacular views of aqua blue water, exposed coral and white sand bottom, one guest comments ‘This is surreal, it looks like’s it’s photoshopped straight out of a TV advert!’
Until next time,
Tight Lines!
